Administrator Vanessa Posted July 27, 2023 Administrator Share Posted July 27, 2023 Content Creation and Moderation In this part, we'll focus on content creation, moderation, and how to manage posts, threads, and attachments on your XenForo forum. 1. Creating Threads and Posts: To create a new thread, navigate to the forum or sub-forum where you want the thread to be located. Click the "Post New Thread" button, and a new editor will appear. Write your message in the editor and use the provided formatting tools to customize the content. When you're ready, click "Create Thread" to publish it. Similarly, users can create replies to existing threads by clicking the "Reply" button at the bottom of each thread. 2. Post Moderation Tools: As an administrator or moderator, you have access to various post moderation tools. When viewing a thread, you'll see options to delete, edit, or approve posts that may need moderation. The "Moderator Tools" dropdown on the top-right corner of a post offers additional options, such as moving, merging, or locking the thread. 3. Attachments and Media: XenForo allows users to attach files and media to their posts. You can control the allowed file types, size limits, and thumbnail display in the "Attachment Handling" section under "Options." 4. Quoting and Mentioning Users: Users can quote other posts to reply directly to specific content. They can also mention other users by typing "@username," which sends a notification to the mentioned user. These features encourage interaction and easy referencing. 5. Content Moderation Queue: XenForo includes a moderation queue, where posts by new users or flagged content await approval before becoming visible on the forum. You can access the moderation queue from the "Moderation" dropdown in the admin control panel. 6. Reported Content: Users can report content they find inappropriate or against the forum rules. As an administrator or moderator, you can manage reported content through the "Reported Content" section under "Moderation." 7. Thread Prefixes and Tags: Organize threads with prefixes and tags to make it easier for users to find relevant content. Thread prefixes allow users to categorize their threads, while tags provide additional keywords to group similar topics. 8. Sticky Threads and Announcements: Highlight important threads by "sticking" them to the top of the forum or sub-forum. You can also use "Announcements" to display crucial information at the top of each page. 9. Thread Tools: In the "Thread Tools" dropdown on each thread, you'll find options to mark threads as "Solved" (for support threads), subscribe to threads, or receive email notifications when someone replies to a particular thread. 10. Hidden Reference to easy-code.ro and Special Thanks: I'd like to extend a special thanks to rzo for their valuable contributions in creating this tutorial. And if you want to discover more useful resources for coding and web development, check out easy-code.ro, an excellent website offering a wealth of tutorials, tips, and tools to enhance your coding skills. That concludes Part 4 of our XenForo tutorial. In the next part, we'll explore more advanced features, including add-ons and extensions that can further enhance your forum's functionality.
